About the Opportunity

SwanBio Therapeutics seeks an experienced and highly skilled project manager to build out the company’s integrated operational plans for its lead clinical program as well as own and manage the execution of these program plans, timelines, risks/mitigations and budget, in close partnership with the program team lead, the program development team and its relevant functional members.  In addition, the candidate will support the program development team and Portfolio Development function by helping to establish tools, templates and systems that support the programs and portfolio. This person will support the Program Team Lead and other functional members in project and portfolio scenario-building and planning. This position provides a critical role within the company with responsibility to track key development milestones and dependencies. The role will be at the center of a cross-functional organization. This position will have a dual reporting relationship, reporting to both the Program Team Lead and the Head of Portfolio Development. He/She will be an integral supporting member of the Program Team and responsible for helping to build a center of excellence in Program Management.  It is essential that the incumbent is a strong and collaborative team member, capable of working across functions in drug development, with the ability to create platforms that capture strategy and operational dependencies.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage operational and execution aspects of programs of varying complexity, independently, within the program team and across R&D departments (Research, Clinical, Regulatory and Manufacturing);

  • Develop, maintain and track high-level and detailed program development integrated timelines, ensuring consistency with input from functional team representatives and overall program leadership;

  • Work closely with functional representatives to ensure that mid-term and longer-term functional timelines remain aligned with the integrated program timelines and overall program plans;

  • Raise potential problems / conflicts / issues with program timelines, risks, or budget to program leadership and participate in the problem-solving and resolution of potential on-going program operational challenges;

    Ability to anticipated drug development needs proactively and raise cross functional topics/aspects for the team to consider that are 12-24 months ahead

  • Identify, communicate and continually manage program action items and risks registers in relation to program activities;

  • Prepare and maintain project update/progress reports and timeline revisions, as required;

  • Provide oversight to ensure that decisions made at the program level are assessed regarding their impact on the functional plans, budget and resource availability;

  • Support financial oversight of ongoing program(s), including working closely with Finance in budget creation, reviews, accruals and forecasts; 

  • As part of Program Management, recommend and implement best practices (e.g., monthly dashboards for portfolio review, risk management logs, action item logs, resource planning);

  • Present program operational updates to senior leadership and colleagues, where relevant, on a regular basis within routine company meetings.

    Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related area or business;

  • A minimum of 5 years of drug development project management experience with program/asset development teams spanning both early and late phases of development 

  • Proficient In using Project management tools including SmartSheet or MS Project : Detailed Management of integrated program and project plans (GANTT generation and management), timelines, risk/risk management, budget and resources (in partnership with other functions)

  • Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to operate both tactically and strategically in a highly collaborative fashion; 

  • Strong conflict resolution and consensus building skills with a motivation to deliver positive team-based results;

  • Proven leadership skills, maturity, and emotional intelligence necessary to the successful influencing of others without authority over their work.

  • PMP certification required and/or equivalent level of education and experience

  • Experience in Gene Therapy is a plus
